If nighttime urination is a problem, reducing large drinks during the final few hours before bedtime may help.
For example, someone who normally drinks a large glass of water immediately before going to sleep could move that drink earlier in the evening.
The exact timing doesn’t have to be identical for everyone. What matters is avoiding unnecessary large amounts of fluid shortly before getting into bed.
Watch Your Evening Coffee and Tea
Water isn’t the only thing that can increase nighttime bathroom trips.
Caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks, and some other drinks can contribute to urinary frequency and may also interfere with sleep.
If you drink caffeine late in the day and regularly wake up at night, consider moving caffeinated beverages to earlier in the day.
This can help in two ways: you may produce less urine overnight, and you may sleep more deeply without caffeine disrupting your sleep.
