Homemade Milky Ice Cream

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered milk and 3 cups of cold water until completely smooth.
  2. Add the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt if using.
  3. Whisk until everything is fully combined.

Step 2: Prepare the Cornstarch

  1. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with ¼ cup cold water.
  2. Stir until the cornstarch is completely dissolved and no lumps remain.

Step 3: Cook the Mixture

  1. Pour the milk mixture into a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Slowly stir in the dissolved cornstarch.
  3. Cook while whisking constantly for 8–10 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
  4. Do not allow it to boil vigorously.

Step 4: Cool the Mixture

  1. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a clean bowl.
  3. Let it cool to room temperature.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
  5. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours until completely chilled.
