Ginger, Onion, Cloves & Lemon for Eye Health: What Science Says

  • by

Social media often claims that a drink made with onion, ginger, cloves, and lemon can relieve cataracts, reverse blurry vision, or restore eyesight. These claims are not supported by scientific evidence.

While these ingredients are nutritious and contain antioxidants, they cannot cure cataracts or reverse vision loss.

Can This Drink Cure Cataracts?

No.

A cataract occurs when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy. Once a cataract develops, the only proven treatment is cataract surgery, which safely replaces the cloudy lens with a clear artificial lens.

No tea, juice, herb, or home remedy has been shown to dissolve or reverse cataracts.

Can It Help Blurry Vision?

Blurry vision has many possible causes, including:

  • Need for glasses
  • Dry eyes
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma
  • Macular degeneration
  • Eye infections

A homemade herbal drink cannot treat these conditions. If your vision suddenly becomes blurry or worsens, you should see an eye care professional promptly.
