Classic Pancakes for Supper

  • by

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

Step 3: Make the Batter

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Gently stir until just combined. A few small lumps are perfectly fine—don’t overmix, or the pancakes can become tough.

Let the batter rest for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Heat the Pan

Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Lightly grease it with butter.

Step 5: Cook the Pancakes

Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the hot pan for each pancake.

Cook for about 2–3 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set.

Flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until golden brown.

Repeat with the remaining batter, adding a little butter to the pan as needed.

Step 6: Stack and Serve

Stack the warm pancakes on a plate.

Place a generous pat of butter on top and pour warm maple syrup over the stack.

For a hearty supper, serve them with crispy bacon, breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, or fresh fruit.

Best part: let the butter melt into every layer before adding plenty of warm syrup. 🥞🧈🍁
