A dog that came to the nursing home every night.

  • by

Every night he came between 8:30 and 9:00, took the same route and went directly to room 7.

Margaret lay there. Ghost jumped onto her bed, turned a few times to his left, and then curled up quietly beside her. He stayed with her until morning. Then he left the home the same way he had come.

More than 2,000 nights

The night shift team began informally recording the visits in a small notebook. Date after date, always the same ritual, always at the same time, always in the same room. This silent routine was repeated for more than 2,000 nights.

  • Ghost reliably returned every night.
  • Margaret reacted noticeably calmer when he lay next to her.
  • The staff took care to protect the special connection.
