  • by

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado seed
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • 1 small cinnamon stick or a pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Lemon slices (optional)

Step 1: Remove the Seed

Cut the avocado carefully and remove the large seed from the center.

Wash the seed well to remove any avocado flesh stuck to it.

Step 2: Dry the Seed

Place the seed on a towel and let it dry for a few hours.
This makes it easier to cut or grate.

Step 3: Chop or Grate

Using a knife or grater, cut the seed into small pieces.

Be careful because the seed is very hard.

Step 4: Boil the Water

Pour 2 cups of water into a small pot and bring it to a boil.

Step 5: Add the Seed Pieces

Add the chopped or grated avocado seed to the boiling water.

If desired, add:

  • cinnamon
  • ginger
  • lemon peel

for extra flavor.

Step 6: Simmer

Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.

The water will turn light reddish-brown or golden.

Step 7: Strain the Tea

Remove from heat and strain the tea into a cup using a fine strainer.

Step 8: Serve

Add honey or lemon if you like.

Drink warm and enjoy.

Tips

  • Do not drink excessive amounts daily.
  • 1 small cup occasionally is enough for most people.
  • Store leftover tea in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Flavor Note

Avocado seed tea tastes slightly bitter and earthy, similar to some herbal teas. Honey or cinnamon can help improve the flavor.
