Lemony Lemon Brownies

  • by

1. Prepare the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan and line it with parchment paper.

2. Cream the butter and sugar

Place the softened butter and granulated sugar in a bowl. Beat for 2–3 minutes, until smooth and creamy.

3. Add the eggs and lemon

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the lemon zest and fresh lemon juice.

4. Add the flour

Add the flour and salt. Mix gently just until everything is combined. Do not overmix, or the brownies may become dense.

5. Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

6. Cool completely

Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer them to a rack and allow them to cool completely before glazing.

7. Make the lemon glaze

Whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth and thick. Add a little extra lemon juice if necessary to reach a spreadable consistency.

8. Glaze

Spread the lemon glaze evenly over the completely cooled brownies.

For an extra lemony finish, sprinkle a little fresh lemon zest over the top.

9. Slice and serve

Allow the glaze to set for about 20–30 minutes, then cut into squares and serve.

🍋 Tip: For the strongest lemon flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice and finely grated zest from fresh lemons.

Soft, buttery, tangy, and absolutely delicious!
