Guava Leaves for Eye Health: What Science Says

  • by

Guava leaves have long been used in traditional herbal medicine and contain antioxidants such as vitamin C, quercetin, and other plant compounds. However, there is no scientific evidence that guava leaves can treat blurred vision, cataracts, glaucoma, eye infections, or restore eyesight.

If you enjoy herbal remedies, guava leaf tea can be a healthy beverage, but it should not replace proper eye care or prescribed treatment.

Ingredients

  • 8–10 fresh guava leaves (or 1 tablespoon dried leaves)
  • 2 cups (500 ml) water
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • Juice of ½ lemon (optional)

Step 1: Wash the Leaves

Rinse the guava leaves thoroughly under clean running water.

Step 2: Prepare the Tea

  1. Bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add the guava leaves.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and let it steep for another 5 minutes.

Step 3: Strain

Pour the tea through a fine strainer into a cup.

Add honey or lemon if desired.

Step 4: Enjoy

Drink one cup daily as part of a balanced diet.
