Grandma’s Beauty Secret: Can Cloves Really Give You Thick Eyebrows and Long Eyelashes in 7 Days?

  • by

Social media is filled with claims that cloves can grow thicker eyebrows and longer eyelashes in just one week. While cloves contain antioxidants and aromatic oils, there is no scientific evidence that applying cloves to your eyebrows or eyelashes can produce dramatic hair growth in 7 days.

Hair growth is a slow process. Eyebrow and eyelash hairs typically take weeks to months to grow, not days.

Why Cloves Are Popular

Cloves are the dried flower buds of the clove tree and contain:

  • Eugenol (a natural antioxidant)
  • Vitamin K
  • Manganese
  • Plant polyphenols

These compounds have been studied for various health benefits, but they have not been proven to stimulate eyebrow or eyelash growth in humans.

A Gentle Clove-Infused Oil Recipe

If you enjoy natural beauty products, you can make a mild clove-infused oil for eyebrows only. Avoid applying clove preparations directly to the eyes or eyelashes because they can cause irritation.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 2 tablespoons castor oil or sweet almond oil
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)

Step 1: Warm the Oil

Place the oil in a small heat-safe bowl.

Warm it gently using a double boiler. Do not boil.

Step 2: Infuse the Cloves

Add the whole cloves.

Allow them to infuse on very low heat for 20–30 minutes.

Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool completely.

Step 3: Strain

Strain out the cloves.

Pour the infused oil into a clean glass bottle.

Step 4: Patch Test

Before using, apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist or behind your ear.

Wait 24 hours to check for redness, itching, or irritation.

Step 5: Apply Carefully

Using a clean eyebrow brush or cotton swab:

  • Apply a very small amount to the eyebrows.
  • Avoid getting the oil into your eyes.
  • Wash it off if irritation develops.
