Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or 1-inch fresh turmeric root, grated)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Step 1: Heat the Milk
Pour the milk into a saucepan and warm over medium heat.
Step 2: Add the Turmeric
Stir in the turmeric powder or freshly grated turmeric.
Step 3: Add Optional Ingredients
Add:
- Cinnamon
- Black pepper
- Sweetener if desired
Black pepper is commonly included because it may help improve the absorption of curcumin.
Step 4: Simmer Gently
Allow the mixture to simmer for 5–10 minutes while stirring occasionally.
Do not bring it to a vigorous boil.
Step 5: Strain (Optional)
If using fresh turmeric root, strain before serving.
Step 6: Serve Warm
Pour into a mug and enjoy while warm.
