- 1 medium red onion, finely chopped
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
- Juice of 1 large lemon
- ½ cup (170 g) raw honey
Step 1 – Prepare the Ingredients
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Mince the garlic cloves.
Grate the fresh ginger.
Squeeze the juice from one fresh lemon.
Step 2 – Combine Everything
Place the onion, garlic, and ginger into a clean glass jar.
Pour in the lemon juice.
Add the honey.
Step 3 – Stir Thoroughly
Mix everything well until the honey evenly coats all the ingredients.
Seal the jar tightly with a lid.
Step 4 – Let It Rest
Store the jar in the refrigerator for 5–7 days.
Stir once daily if desired to help blend the flavours.
Step 5 – Enjoy
After the mixture has rested, you can enjoy 1 teaspoon once daily if you like the taste.
It can also be:
- Stirred into warm (not boiling) water.
- Added to herbal tea.
- Served with plain yoghurt.
- Used as a topping for whole-grain toast.
There is no proven health advantage to waiting exactly seven days or taking one teaspoon daily beyond personal preference.
Storage Tips
- Keep refrigerated at all times.
- Always use a clean, dry spoon.
- Best consumed within 2 weeks.
Helpful Tips
- Add a pinch of turmeric and black pepper for extra flavour.
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best taste.
- Warm water—not boiling water—helps preserve the flavour of honey.
Important Note
This tonic is a traditional home recipe, not a medicine. While ginger, garlic, onion, lemon, and honey can all be part of a healthy diet, they have not been proven to prevent or treat infections, clear blocked arteries, lower blood pressure on their own, or cure chronic diseases. If you take blood-thinning medication, have diabetes, are allergic to any of these ingredients, or have an ongoing medical condition, consult your healthcare provider before using this mixture regularly. A balanced diet, regular physical activity, good sleep, and appropriate medical care remain the most effective ways to support overall health.
