Ginger, Garlic, Onion, Lemon & Honey: A Traditional Homemade Blend for Everyday Wellness

  • by

1. Prepare the Ingredients

Wash the lemon thoroughly.

Slice the lemon, onion, and ginger into thin pieces.

Peel the garlic cloves.

2. Fill the Jar

In a clean glass jar, layer:

  • Lemon slices
  • Garlic cloves
  • Ginger slices
  • Onion slices

Repeat until the jar is nearly full.

3. Add the Honey

Slowly pour the honey over the ingredients.

Use a clean spoon to remove any trapped air bubbles.

Make sure all the ingredients are completely covered with honey.

4. Seal the Jar

Close the lid tightly.

Leave the jar at room temperature for 24 hours.

Then refrigerate it.

5. Let It Infuse

Allow the mixture to infuse for 3–7 days before using.

The honey will gradually become thinner as it mixes with the juices from the lemon and onion.

Step 5: How to Enjoy It

Many people enjoy:

  • 1 teaspoon once daily
  • Adding a spoonful to warm (not boiling) water
  • Mixing it into herbal tea
  • Drizzling a small amount over yogurt

Avoid adding it to boiling water, as excessive heat can reduce some of the beneficial compounds in honey.

Step 6: Who Should Be Careful?

Talk with your healthcare provider before consuming large amounts if you:

  • Take blood-thinning medications
  • Have diabetes (because honey contains natural sugars)
  • Have stomach ulcers or severe acid reflux
  • Are allergic to any ingredient

Children under 1 year old should never be given honey due to the risk of infant botulism.
