Garlic and honey have been used together in traditional home remedies for generations. Garlic contains natural sulfur compounds, while honey is valued for its soothing properties and natural sweetness. Although this combination is nutritious and flavorful, there is no scientific evidence that garlic and honey are a “sacred remedy” or can cure serious illnesses.
Instead, enjoy this mixture as a wholesome addition to a balanced diet—not as a replacement for medical care.
Ingredients
- 2 whole garlic bulbs
- 1 cup (340 g) raw honey
- 1 clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
Equipment
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Glass jar
Step 1: Prepare the Garlic
Separate the garlic bulbs into individual cloves.
Peel each clove and lightly crush it with the flat side of a knife. This helps release allicin, one of garlic’s natural sulfur compounds.
Let the garlic rest for 10 minutes before adding it to the honey.
Step 2: Fill the Jar
Place the peeled garlic cloves into a clean, dry glass jar.
Do not pack them too tightly.
Step 3: Add the Honey
Pour the honey over the garlic until every clove is completely covered.
Use a clean spoon to remove any trapped air bubbles.
Step 4: Seal and Infuse
Close the jar tightly.
Store it in a cool, dark place for 5–7 days, gently turning the jar once a day to help distribute the honey.
Some natural bubbling may occur as the mixture ferments slightly.
Step 5: Enjoy
After the infusion period, you can:
- Eat 1 garlic clove with a small spoonful of honey if you enjoy the flavor.
- Use the infused honey in salad dressings or marinades.
- Stir a small amount into warm (not boiling) tea.
