  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Pour in the warm water and olive oil (if using).
  3. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until no dry flour remains. The dough will look wet, sticky, and shaggy—this is exactly how it should be.

Step 2: Let the Dough Rise

  1. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Leave it at room temperature for 2–3 hours, or overnight for an even better flavor.
  3. The dough is ready when it has doubled in size and is filled with bubbles.

Step 3: Shape the Dough

  1. Lightly flour your work surface.
  2. Gently scrape the dough onto the floured surface.
  3. Fold the edges toward the center a few times to form a rough ball. Avoid kneading the dough.
  4. Place the dough seam-side down on a piece of parchment paper.
  5. Cover loosely and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Preheat the Oven

  1. About 20 minutes before baking, place a Dutch oven (with its lid) into the oven.
  2. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  3. Allow the Dutch oven to heat for at least 20–30 minutes.

Step 5: Bake the Bread

  1. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven.
  2. Lift the dough using the parchment paper and place it into the pot.
  3. Cover with the lid.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the lid and continue baking for 10–15 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and crisp.

Step 6: Cool and Slice

  1. Carefully transfer the bread to a wire rack.
  2. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  3. Serve with butter, olive oil, soup, sandwiches, or your favorite spread.

Tips for the Best No-Knead Bread
