Crispy Fried Potatoes and Smoked Sausage with Onions

  • by

1. Prepare the potatoes

Wash and dice the potatoes into small ½-inch cubes. Pat them dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps them become crispier.

2. Cook the potatoes

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the potatoes in an even layer. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Cook for about 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes begin to turn golden brown and tender.

3. Add the onions

Add the diced onion to the skillet.

Cook for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions soften and begin to caramelize.

4. Add the smoked sausage

Add the sliced smoked sausage to the pan.

Cook for 5–8 minutes, turning the sausage occasionally, until it becomes browned around the edges.

5. Add garlic and butter

Add the minced garlic and butter.

Stir everything together and cook for another 1–2 minutes, just until fragrant.

6. Crisp everything up

Let the potatoes and sausage sit undisturbed for a couple of minutes so they develop those delicious crispy browned edges.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

7. Serve

Remove from the heat and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.

Serve hot, straight from the skillet. 🍳🥔
