Clove Tea: A Comforting Homemade Drink With Traditional Uses

Ingredients

  • 6–8 whole cloves
  • 2 cups (500 ml) water
  • 1 small cinnamon stick (optional)
  • 2–3 thin slices fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • Fresh lemon slice (optional)

Step 1: Boil the Water

Pour the water into a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.

Step 2: Add the Cloves

Add the whole cloves.

If using, also add the cinnamon stick and ginger slices.

Reduce the heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.

Step 3: Strain

Remove the saucepan from the heat.

Strain the tea into your favorite mug.

Step 4: Add Optional Flavor

If desired, stir in:

  • Honey
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Avoid adding honey until the tea has cooled slightly to preserve its flavor.

Step 5: Enjoy

Serve warm.

Many people enjoy one cup in the morning or evening as part of a balanced diet.

Storage

You can refrigerate leftover tea for up to 2 days.

Reheat gently before drinking.
