Cabbage: A Nutritious Vegetable That Supports Overall Health

  • by

Cabbage is often featured in social media posts claiming it can “cleanse the body,” “repair damaged cells,” or even cure serious diseases. While cabbage is an incredibly nutritious vegetable, there is no scientific evidence that it can cure cancer or reverse damaged cells on its own.

What we do know is that cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables are excellent additions to a healthy diet and may help support long-term health.

Why Cabbage Is So Healthy

Cabbage is packed with beneficial nutrients, including:

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • Fiber
  • Folate
  • Potassium
  • Natural antioxidants
  • Glucosinolates (natural sulfur-containing compounds found in cruciferous vegetables)

Researchers continue to study glucosinolates and their breakdown products for the r potential role in supporting normal cellular health, but they are not a treatment for cancer or other diseases.
