Brie, Cranberry, and Walnut Crostini with Honey

  • by

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the bread from sticking and make cleanup easier.

Step 2: Slice the Baguette

Cut the baguette into slices approximately 1–1.5 cm thick.

Arrange the slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush each slice lightly with olive oil on one side. This helps the bread develop a beautiful golden color and a satisfying crunch.

Step 3: Toast the Bread

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast the bread for 5–7 minutes.

Turn the slices over if necessary and continue toasting for another 3–5 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers are lightly crisp.

Remove the bread from the oven.

Step 4: Prepare the Brie

Cut the Brie into small slices or pieces that will fit comfortably on each piece of toasted bread.

Arrange the Brie over the toasted baguette slices, distributing it evenly.

For a richer flavor, leave the rind on the Brie. It is edible and helps the cheese hold its shape as it melts.

Step 5: Add the Walnuts and Cranberries

Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the Brie.

Add the dried cranberries, distributing them evenly across the crostini.

The walnuts provide a delicious crunch, while the cranberries contribute a sweet and slightly tangy flavor that complements the creamy cheese.

Step 6: Bake Until the Cheese Melts

Return the prepared crostini to the oven.

Bake for approximately 5–8 minutes, or until the Brie becomes soft and melty and the walnuts are lightly toasted.

Keep an eye on the bread to ensure it doesn’t become too dark.

Step 7: Drizzle with Honey

Remove the crostini from the oven and transfer them carefully to a serving board.

While they’re still warm, drizzle honey generously over the melted Brie, walnuts, and cranberries.

The warm honey adds a beautiful sweetness that brings all the flavors together.

Step 8: Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle the crostini with fresh thyme leaves, chopped parsley, and freshly ground black pepper.

Add a tiny pinch of sea salt if desired.

Serve immediately while the bread is crisp and the Brie is warm and creamy.

Enjoy every delicious bite of this sweet, savory, and crunchy appetizer!

Tips for Perfect Brie Crostini

Choose a good baguette: A fresh French baguette provides a crisp exterior and a sturdy base for the toppings.

Don’t overload the bread: Use enough Brie, walnuts, and cranberries to create a flavorful bite without making the crostini difficult to handle.

Toast the bread first: Pre-toasting helps prevent the bread from becoming soggy when topped with melted cheese.

Warm the honey slightly: If your honey is thick, warm it gently for a few seconds so it’s easier to drizzle.

Toast the walnuts carefully: If you prefer a deeper nutty flavor, toast the walnuts in a dry skillet for 2–3 minutes before adding them.

Add the honey after baking: Drizzling the honey over the crostini just before serving preserves its delicate flavor and creates an attractive finish.
