Avocado Seed: Myths, Facts & a Simple Homemade Tea

Wash the avocado seed thoroughly after removing it from the fruit.

Remove any remaining avocado flesh.

Allow it to dry for several hours.

Step 2: Prepare the Seed

Using a sharp knife, carefully chop the seed into several smaller pieces.

Alternatively, grate the seed if it has dried enough.

Step 3: Simmer

Add the seed pieces to a saucepan with the water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.

Cook for 20–30 minutes.

If desired, add a cinnamon stick during the last 10 minutes.

Step 4: Strain

Remove from the heat.

Strain the liquid into a mug or teapot.

Step 5: Flavor

Add:

  • Honey for sweetness (optional)
  • Fresh lemon juice for a brighter flavor (optional)

Serve warm.

Storage

Refrigerate any leftover tea for up to 2 days.

Reheat gently before drinking.
